ILWACO — Ilwaco led 51-0 near halftime of a 71-9 victory over Northwest Christian Tuesday, Jan. 15.

The Lady Fishermen used steals and offensive rebounds to give themselves a huge edge in scoring chances. Ebby McMullen in particular took control, attacking the basket, stealing the ball in the back-court, and jumping for a contested put-back, then burying a three-pointer to give her seven points and Ilwaco a 14-0 lead 4:09 into the game.

Coach Ned Bittner delved into his bench shortly afterward, but Ilwaco’s scoring pace kept up. Starter Estella Sheldon led the bench unit with six straight points. Kaytlenn Whelden followed with a three-pointer to make it 28-0 after a quarter.

Gretchen Stottlemyre free throws after being fouled shooting a three-pointer put the Lady Navigators on the board with 6.5 seconds to go in the half, making it 51-3.

Whelden continued her recent hot streak from long-range with a three-pointer near the end of the third and another at the beginning of the fourth, giving her three for the game.
