WINLOCK — Alyssa Marsh had five kills and Sophia Marsh served six aces in Ilwaco’s 25-12, 25-13, 25-18 victory over Winlock Monday, Sept. 16.

Following an opener against Naselle in which she served seven aces in just nine attempts, Marsh came up with six in 17 attempts against the Cardinals.

“She has a great, hard serve, with top-spin that makes it hard to pass,” coach Michaela Eastham said. “She’s gone from being a very inconsistent server last year to excellent this year. She’s really worked hard in practice to improve.”

Kylie Gray was the team’s most efficient hitter, with four kills to one error for a .231 hitting percentage.

Libero Sabrina Lessenden had seven digs with no digging errors.

“Sabrina had a phenomenal night; she didn’t let the ball drop,” Eastham said.

Ilwaco will host defending 1B District IV champion Firm Foundation Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 7:00 p.m., visit Willapa Valley the following day at 7:00, and hosts Pe Ell the following Tuesday.
