PE ELL — By halftime, Joe Nisbett had 18 points, Tenyson Ramsey had four three-pointers, and Ilwaco led Pe Ell 47-21, putting the Fishermen well on their way to a 67-46 road win Tuesday. Nisbett finished with 21 points and 12 rebounds.

Ilwaco went with a big lineup as Nisbett, Jeb Sheldon and Reese Tynkila, who normally rotate at the post positions, all started. The Fishermen controlled the defensive rebounds and got on a roll creating fast breaks off missed shots.

Nisbett hit his first seven shots.

“In the half-court [offense] we found Joe without any weak-side defense, and the kids did a good job finding him,” Ilwaco coach Tim Harrell said.

Pe Ell cut Ilwaco’s lead to 21-14 at the end of the first quarter, getting nine points from Dana Isham in the period. But Ilwaco outscored them 26-7 in the second. Ilwaco had six three-pointers in the first half, as Ramsey hit four of five and Tynkila and Alex Kaino each knocked one down.

“When they tried to [stop us] inside, the outside guys knocked down the open shots,” Harrell said. “Tenyson Ramsey led the charge with making great decisions in the half-court [offense] and shooting the ball extremely well. Tenyson has potential to really change games and I think he’s starting to realize that.”

Ramsey finished the game with four assists. Kaino and Tynkila each had four first-half assists, and John Glenn had another three. Kaino finished with five steals.

Ilwaco’s scheduled Friday home game against North Beach could not be played, as weather prevented the Hyaks from making the trip from Ocean Shores. The game has been rescheduled for Dec. 29 at 2 p.m. in Ilwaco.

Ilwaco (5-1 overall, 4-1 in league play) hosts 7-0 Willapa Valley Wednesday at 7 p.m. Ilwaco hosts Toledo on Friday at 6 p.m.
