RICHLAND — Blake Kukula of Ocean Park finished tied for 11th place in the Washington Junior Golf Association (WJGA) state championship for boys ages 14-15, held Aug. 1-3.

The event took place at two courses, Meadow Springs Country Club in Richland (Tuesday and Thursday) and Black Rock Creek Golf Club in Sunnyside (Wednesday.)

Kukula shot 76-74-75 for a three-day score of 225, nine strokes behind winner Drew Warford.

Kukula, who will be an Ilwaco High School sophomore this coming school year, won the individual state championship at the 1B/2B level in school competition this spring. The WJGA holds events throughout most of the year for dedicated golfers at schools of all sizes.
