ILWACO - What a difference a night (and an opponent) can make! After being drubbed by LaCenter Wednesday, the Lady Fishermen took out their frustrations on Stevenson 83-34 at Aase Gym Friday in Trico-League action.

Ilwaco scored the first 14 points, was ahead 21-2, and ended the first period up 31-3 against the hapless Lady Bulldogs. Stevenson turned the ball over 17 times in the quarter, many of which were unforced errors, and made one basket the first ten minutes.

From that point on Coach Glenn Padgett substituted liberally as the Lady Fishermen leashed the Lady Bulldogs. Ashley Fauver had 13 points, 3 assists, 2 steals and 3 rebounds. Ashley Kitzman poured in 10 points and pulled down 5 boards, and Robyn Unruh scored 6 points and dished for 2 assists-and all of this was just in the first quarter!

For the game Holly Hocking hit three "threes" on her way to scoring her season-high 11 points and Nicole Adams sank her first bucket of the season. Katie Holmes and Anna Kitzman each scored 6 points and Holmes snagged 4 steals.

Heather Bartlett shot for 3 points and garnered a like number of rebounds, while Ariel Barker scored 2 and retrieved 6 caroms. Ashley Kitzman scored 23 points, right at her season's average, and corralled 11 rebounds in limited playing time.

Fauver popped in 20 points, while passing for 6 assists and stealing the basketball 4 times in the one-sided contest. Unruh rolled in 10 points and dished out 3 assists.

Ilwaco made 34 of 73 field goal attempts for 47 percent and converted 10-15 from the line, while the Lady Bulldogs were 11-44 from the field and 8 of 12 from the free throw stripe. Stevenson was whistled for 17 fouls. The only negative statistic for Ilwaco was their excessive total of 25 fouls.

The Lady Fishermen out-rebounded the visitors 31-17 and watched them turn the ball over 38 times to Ilwaco's 17 miscues. The Lady Fishermen are now 1-1 in the Trico and 7-2 overall.
