LONG BEACH - The Lady Fishermen could manage only a second inning run and a sixth stanza single as LaCenter won their third straight game over Ilwaco in three days 15-1 in Trico League action in Long Beach Friday.

Alexa Wirkkala reached on a walk in the second frame, stole second, moved to third on Kady Kirby's long fly out to right field, and came home on a wild pitch. Ilwaco worked winning pitcher Kylie Monson for two more walks in the fray and Aimee Banuet punched a single through the right side of the infield in the sixth inning for Ilwaco's only base hit.

Monson struck out 11 after fanning 23 in two games on Wednesday. Wirkkala at shortstop was stellar defensively and Kirby made an exceptional catch of a sinking line drive in left field. Sydney Ward went all the way for Ilwaco, striking out two and walking five.

LaCenter is now 7-5 in the Trico and 8-8 for the year, while Ilwaco is 5-7 in league play and 7-8 for the season. The Lady Fishermen are currently tied with Stevenson in league play for fourth place. Castle Rock is on top at 12-0 and the Lady Wildcats and Kalama are tied for second and third at 7-5 with three games to go.
