ILWACO - Seven Lady Fishermen golfers are working hard on the links for coach Karl Johnson in hopes of making the cut for the state match in May.

"We've already been outside more the first two weeks of the season than we did in over a month last year," Johnson commented. "Because of the weather and our earlier start, I am hopeful we will have a much more competitive year."

Seniors Megan Saunders and Jennifer Noonan have competed at district the past two years and have come up short of a state bid, but they are determined to go to the next level their final year. Jenny VanOver returns as a sophomore and hopes to continue her improvement. Junior Dorothy Frace turned out as a freshman, and sophs Marissa Janis and Brianna Beller, and frosh Amanda Brophy are new to the sport at the high school level.

The Lady Fishermen practice at Surfside Golf Course and will open their season March 25 at Hoquiam.
