ILWACO - Adna took a one-point lead with 33 seconds remaining in overtime and then the Lady Pirates sank a pair of foul shots with four seconds remaining to down Ilwaco 54-51 in a non-league girls' game at Carl Aase Gymnasium Monday. The Lady Fishermen had been down 43-36 with three minutes to play in regulation, but came storming back to tie at 47-47.
Ilwaco's Vallori Crowston had a steal with 18 seconds to play, but the Lady Fishermen turned the ball over with four seconds to send the game into extra minutes. Alexa Wirkkala's free throw and Ashley Tapio's old-fashioned three-point play put Ilwaco up 51-47 in overtime, but the Lady Pirates tallied seven straight points, five from the foul line, to pull out the win.
The Lady Fishermen are now 8-3 for the year and Adna improves to 6-7.
