CASTLE ROCK — Life Christian beat Ilwaco 63-45 Tuesday, Feb. 13, eliminating the Fishermen from District playoffs. Noah Robinson scored 20 points for the Eagles, who led by just four at halftime. Life Christian, the Pacific League champion, had been knocked into the consolation bracket with a 20-point loss to Morton-White Pass before saving their season against Ilwaco and ultimately finishing fourth at Districts.
With officials allowing plenty of contact, it was a defensive game. Ilwaco forced early turnovers and got the Eagles’ offense out of sync, but Life Christian survived on offensive rebounds, scoring eight of their 14 first-quarter points on put-backs.
Life Christian led 28-24 at the half, then started the third quarter on a 7-0 run to take control. Life Christian maintained a lead between six and twelve points most of the rest of the way. Despite nine second-half points from Tenyson Ramsey, Ilwaco couldn’t really make a run against the stifling Eagles’ defense.
Noah Robinson’s three-pointer boosted the lead to 55-40 with 3:28 remaining. Ramsey’s three with 2:11 left cut it to 12, but Ilwaco had to foul the rest of the way, allowing Life Christian to extend the final margin to 18.
Reese Tynkila led Ilwaco with 16, and Ramsey added nine.
