ELLENSBURG, MONMOUTH - Adam Bighill is a sophomore linebacker for the Central Washington University Wildcats football team in Ellensburg, ranked 11th in the nation. The Montesano graduate and son of Janine (Peterson, deceased) and Andy Bighill, was the 2007 Conference freshman of the year and is one of three returning linebackers dubbed "the dark side," because of their defensive excellence.

Sylvia Herrold, Naselle 2008 graduate, is an opposite hitter for Monmouth's Western Oregon University. She has played in both of the team's matches. Herrold's bio reads, "The Naselle High School all-state player as a junior and a senior is probably the hardest hitter on the team when she swings away. She is a big, strong, physical player and a left-hander, which is exactly what is needed to play on the right side. She has been on a real steep learning curve, but she is going to be a really good player."
