The Comets Booster Club sponsored the event. Denny said, "It takes a lot of work to put on a 10 team meet but I am fortunate to have the best help from community members, athletic director Brian Macy, and from faculty, staff, students and the middle school track team." Denny had special thanks to NHS senior Tony Mullins who "hung in there four years as scorekeeper and announcer for home track meets."

Denny related, "Nicole Laney is running the 800 for the first time this year and doing a great job. Tasha Stenvall ran the 3,200 for the first time also and did very well. Every Naselle trackster did everything I asked of them and more." She added, "Drew Macy and Conor Smith were exceptional in the high jump. Taylor Wasmundt had her best throw in the discus and ran her best anchor leg of the 4x400. She caught up to her competition and gutted it out for the last 100 meters to help us get second in that event."
