Naselle - In what turned out to be a rough and tumble tussle between valley rivals, the Naselle girls basketball team made a late surge to beat the Lady Mules of Wahkiakum, 65-53 a District IV first round playoff game Wednesday night.

Naselle's Brandi Keightley scored 29 points in the win while Ashley Alstrom added 18 points, Sylvia Herrold put up a double-double with 10 points and 10 boards, and Emily Green provided a defensive spark with four steals.

The Comets now advance to play White Pass this Friday, Feb. 15 at 6: 30 p.m. at Castle Rock High School.

If the Comets win that game they would next play a 6:30 p.m. game at WF West High School in Chehalis on Feb. 20. If they lose, they would play a 5:30 p.m. game at Rochester on Monday Feb. 18.
