OYHUT - Two of the four parts of the Naselle Middle School track team finished first in their respective divisions of the Pacific Far West Junior High League track and field championships held May 15.

The Naselle seventh-grade boys and the Naselle eighth-grade girls each won their parts of the big 14 team meet. The Naselle seventh-grade girls and Naselle eighth-grade boys each finished sixth in their parts of the meet.

Top six team scores: Seventh grade boys - Naselle 68, South Bend 63, Ilwaco 55, Lake Quinault 34, North Beach 32, Willapa Valley 31.

Seventh-grade girls - North Beach 80, Willapa Valley 77, Wishkah Valley 57, Ocosta 48, M.M. Knight 47, Naselle 29.

Eighth-grade boys - South Bend 62, North River 60, North Beach 53, Willapa Valley 52, Wishkah Valley 48, Naselle 39.

Eighth-grade girls - Naselle 91, Ilwaco 63, North Beach 61, Ocosta 60, Willapa Valley 37, South Bend 31.

Among the leading performers for Naselle was seventh-grader Kyle Burkhalter, with two firsts - in the boys triple jump and in the 1,600, and two seconds in the high jump and in the 800. Also a leader was eighth-grader Erin Saari with two firsts - in the girls high jump and in the 400 - and a third - in the long jump.
