NASELLE - The Naselle seventh grade volleyball team had six players, just enough to have a team and Coach Diane Bennett said, "Each girl was relied upon to do their part on the floor. Eighth grader Jessica Keeley did play down each match in the spirit of teamwork to back up her teammates."
The team had a six win, three loss season and they won five games and lost one in a jamboree at Raymond. Kayti Nelson was team captain and excellent all-around player. She started the season as a hitter and later was moved to setter. "She played both positions well and will continue to be a great player," Bennett said.
Karianne Condon developed into a strong player who was an accurate server and excellent back row passer. Abbey DaVall also improved a great deal as a server and became an excellent passer and was also "amazing" at retrieving the ball. Bennett said, "Kelsey Kelley had a strong serve that got better with practice and she became more confident with her ability to hit the ball and was a strong passer."
Marissa Woods hustled well on the court and was an accurate server and Talyssa Nordberg was a player who gave volleyball all her effort according to Bennett and her positive attitude was appreciated. "Even though our numbers were down this season, this talented group did their best to strive for a successful season and their 6-3 record shows how hard they worked as a team," Bennett said.
