The Comets' next opponent, the Life Christian Eagles of Tacoma, present a terrific challenge for Naselle in this weekend's quarterfinal match-up. The Eagles won 26-7 over previously undefeated Adna in their first round game on Saturday.

Life Christian has a 10-2 overall record coming into the Naselle game. Their only two losses were close defeats by Orting and Cascade Christian. They have scored an average of 34 points-per-game while only giving up an average of 11 points-per-game. The Eagles also have three players who are among the state's top 20, regardless of school size, for their position - their quarterback, a running back and a wide receiver all have earned that distinction.

The quarterfinal round matches Naselle's farthest advance into the playoffs (1986).

As of publication, the WIAA had not named the date, time or site for the game. Check www.chinookobserver.com later in the week for the all the details.

The Eagles are considered to be the home team so the game will be somewhere in the Tacoma area this coming weekend. Naselle athletic director Brian Macy said, "Rich Frazer (District IV Secretary) said he would not know (the details) until sometime Monday. Second round games must be held on field turf."

The other two teams on Naselle's side of the state 2B bracket, who will be meeting in the battle to get into the semis, are perennial state champions Reardan and DeSales, who each were easy winners in their first round games. On the other side of the bracket, South Bend edged Willapa Valley 6-0 to advance to play Toutle Lake, upset winners over unbeaten Darrington 19-13. Asotin and LaSalle are the remaining two teams in the quarter-finals.
