NASELLE — A 38-point first quarter put Naselle on its way to an 80-31 victory over the Washington School for the Deaf Thursday.
Early on, Jacob Eaton slid out to the corner for his second three-pointer, which Ethan Lindstrom followed with a bucket off a stolen inbounds pass for a 12-2 lead just 2:16 into the game.
The Comets piled on by capitalizing on turnovers. Vince Fauver, entering midway through the quarter, quickly poached a steal and fed Antonio Nolan for a bucket and 23-4 lead. Fauver added a steal of an in-bounds pass, which led to a Kolby Glenn three-pointer that made it 32-6 with over two minutes still to play in the quarter. Lindstrom cut across the baseline and scored on a lob from Glenn, then added a steal and layup. By quarter’s end, Naselle led 38-8, including 12 points from Lindstrom.
The Comets then went back to Eaton for a while. He scored 14 of 19 Comet points during a second and third quarter span, knocking down open close-range jumpers, dancing to the basket on a pivot move and scoring on a lob just under the rim. Jack Ruch took over in the post late in the third quarter, scoring six of Naselle’s last 14 points.
Eaton, who hit 10 of his first 13 shots, led Naselle with 22 points. Lindstrom scored 15. Cole Dorman hit his first five shots and scored 11.
