NASELLE — The game was over shortly after it began as Ethan Lindstrom sparked the Comets to an 8-0 lead after just 81 seconds and the team cruised to an 80-20 win over Columbia Adventist Monday, Jan. 21.
Naselle immediately turned it into a high-tempo game. Lindstrom scored seconds in off the opening tip. Then Corey Gregory gathered an outlet pass at half-court and found Lindstrom ahead of the defense. Lindstrom scored again on an Antonio Nolan steal. On the play, he adjusted to his defender in the air to make the contested layup, an ability that makes him extremely dangerous near the basket. That gave him six points in the first 1:01. Lindstrom added a steal of his own and outletted to Cole Dorman, who found Gregory for a bucket and 8-0 lead.
Lindstrom continued dominating. He intercepted a pass and fed Dorman for a basket, and on the next play lunged at the Adventist point-guard for another steal, taking it himself for a layup to stretch the lead to 25 midway through the second quarter.
Ian Fontanilla, coming off the bench, helped keep the pedal to the metal. He went coast-to-coast for a layup to make it 34-7 with 3:38 in the half. At the end of the half he had back-to-back steals, passing to set up fast-break baskets on both plays. Naselle led 54-9 at the half.
Lindstrom finished with 17 points, 15 in the first half. Jacob Eaton added 14 points, Kolby Glenn had 12, and Dorman added 10.
