NASELLE – Lilli Zimmerman overpowered Knappa down low, helping Naselle take a 33-point third-quarter lead in a 67-51 win Tuesday, Jan. 15. Eighth-grader Bella Colombo was Naselle’s top contributor from the perimeter, scoring 12 of her 14 points in the first half.

Zimmerman followed her own strong first half by hitting her first five shots of the third quarter. She capped that stretch by scoring on a lob from Sophie Scrabeck, giving her 23 points and the Comets a 57-28 lead. Zimmerman made a feed across the lane to a cutting Peyton Dalton, who converted to give the Lady Comets their largest lead at 61-28 late in the third.

Knappa answered with a 16-0 run, much of it against the Comets’ second string. Scrabeck ended that run with a put-back of her own missed free throw, extending the lead to 63-44 with just 2:40 left, and Naselle went on to win by 16.
