NASELLE — Clay Bergeson doubled and singled, while Ethan Lindstrom went 2 for 2 and struck out six batters, in Naselle’s 17-0 five-inning home victory over Winlock Friday, March 29.
Winlock, one of the weakest teams in the 2B Central league, nevertheless gave the Comets better competition than they have gotten recently. Against their 1B league opponents, Naselle had been scoring around 10 runs per inning in their previous three games.
“We saw some better velocity than we’ve been seeing,” Naselle coach Randy Lindstrom said.
Winlock’s Tyler Bray retired Naselle’s first two batters, but Ethan Lindstrom singled and Joe Strange doubled to spark a four-run inning.
With one out in the top of the second, second baseman Daniel Holt threw out Conner Gilreath going first-to-third on a single to right, snuffing out a Winlock rally just as it was beginning.
Bergeson led off the Naselle second with a double, leading to a seven-run inning.
Lindstrom walked three batters but allowed only two hits, both singles, in his four innings. Josh Townsen overwhelmed the bottom of Winlock’s order, striking out all three batters in the fifth.
