TAHOLAH — Ethan Lindstrom went 7 of 8 for 179 yards, throwing two of his three touchdown passes to Corey Gregory, as Naselle hammered Taholah 62-0 on Friday, Sept. 27.
Lindstrom and Jimmy Strange each went over 100 yards rushing and scored two touchdowns for the Comets, who improved to 4-0.
Joey Strange opened scoring with an interception return for a touchdown. Later in the first quarter, Gregory, a senior playing football for the first time this year, scored his first career TD. He caught a screen pass and, escorted by three linemen who got downfield into the secondary, took it 60 yards.
Naselle led 14-0 after a quarter.
While Taholah kept the game competitive in the first quarter, moving the ball and holding Naselle to one offensive touchdown in the period, the Comets dominated the second period with three TDs. Lindstrom pitched the ball to Strange, who scored on a 21-yard run. Lindstrom threw a touchdown pass to Jason Harman, then ran for a touchdown after a Comet fumble recovery near the end of the half.
The Comets’ defense finished with three fumble recoveries and five sacks.
Gregory added his second touchdown catch in the third quarter. In the fourth quarter, Lindstrom had his second rushing touchdown, as did Strange.
On Friday at 6 p.m. Naselle will host Neah Bay, which is 3-0 with victories over Crescent, Quilcene and Lummi.
