Warren Wirkkala went 16 of 24 for 294 yards and had 96 yards on eight carries in the Naselle junior varsity team’s first game of the season, a 54-32 home win over the Washington School for the Deaf on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Jason Harman caught three of Wirkkala’s five touchdown passes, Joey Strange scored touchdowns rushing and receiving, Daniel Holt caught a touchdown and Wirkkala added a touchdown on the ground. Wirkkala also led the defense with ten tackles. Joey Strange made nine tackles and recovered two fumbles.

WSD, which is varsity only, fell to 2-2 with the loss. The Terriers have lopsided wins over Wishkah and Oakville this season. Coach Jeff Eaton said Naselle is unlikely to get any more junior varsity games on the schedule.
