CLATSKANIE – The Clatskanie Tigers shut out Ilwaco 6-0 Thursday, Oct. 4.

The teams waited out an 80-minute delay that resulted from complications finding a referee, but play finally got underway at 6:23 at Clatskanie City Park.

The home team was on the attack early and scored a goal from about 30 feet out in the fourth minute. Erika Glenn broke away toward the goal twice in the next few minutes, using deft dribbling and give-and-go passes, but Clatskanie’s goal-keeper made diving stops on both her shots.

Ilwaco continued to attack. Glenn then got out in front of the defense a third time but missed wide. The goalie made more stops on Sunny Kemmer shots. Glenn dribbled around two defenders to come open but missed off the cross-bar in the 18th minute.

In the 24th, Clatskanie’s Cloee McCleod executed a pass to a teammate right near the Ilwaco goal to set up an easy score that made it 2-0.

Though Ilwaco kept the game competitive in the first half, the Tigers dominated the second. McCleod’s cross-pass set up another easy goal for a 3-0 lead, and the Tigers piled on with three more goals late in the game for the lopsided win.
