ROCHESTER – Marina Sonntag was medalist and shot her best round ever and Kempsey Ward pared 15 strokes off her best round to date, but Rochester was still able to eke out a three-stroke victory 325-328 over the Lady Fishermen golfers there Tuesday, May 3.

Sonntag shot a 53 on what coach Bob Enos called a picture perfect day for golf and Ward came around in 82. Jenna Lee for Ilwaco fired a fine round of 56, Brooke Weir came in with a 67, and Amanda Schisler carded a 70 to round out the Lady Fishermen scores.

For the Lady Warriors, Kadie White shot a 54, Stephanie Munsell came home with a 55, Hailee MacGinnis shot 64, McKenzie Jones fired a 70 and McKenzie Gronka carded an 82. Elma was scheduled to also compete, but did not show up.

“This was a very close match. It was a great day to play golf and the girls had fun, while improving their scores,” Enos said. “We played so well the girls earned ice cream on the way home.”
