ILWACO - "We had our opportunities," a disappointed Coach Kip Meinhardt said after Castle Rock squeaked past the Fishermen 44-43 in a Trico battle of unbeaten's Friday in Ilwaco. "We defended well, we executed our game plan the first half, but down the stretch we just didn't make plays."

Ilwaco fashioned a 17-6 lead early in the second period, they were ahead 30-25 late in the third period, and had a 43-40 advantage with 46 seconds to play, yet couldn't hold the lead. Two turnovers inside two minutes that led to back-to-back Castle Rocket buckets and two contested shots within the final five seconds that missed their mark were the final straw in the Rockets' come-from-behind win.

Kyle Breckinridge recorded a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds and his left-handed hook with 2:14 put the Fishermen up 43-40. Karl Oman finished with 12 points and his old-fashioned three point play had given Ilwaco the lead 41-40 moments before. Cody Pierson added 11 points for the Fishermen, who are now 1-1 in the Trico and 4-6 for the year, while the eighth-ranked Rockets are 3-0 in league and 9-1 for the season.
