ILWACO - Statistics for the 2003 Ilwaco football team compiled by Rod Anderson were released last week.
Leading rusher on the team was Josh Gray who gained 300 yards in 81 carries (3.7 yards per carry). Quarterback Ryan Cadwell gained 210 in 88 carries and Rocky Mirelez was next with 173 yards in 65 carries.
Randy Wiegardt, in just two games as a runner, was next with 160 yards gained on 37 tries for a team-leading 4.3 yards per rush average. Mike Kangas gained 35 yards in 17 carries, Alex Martin packed the pigskin six times for 12 yards, Mooch Smith once for three yards, and Ken Marroquin had 16 yards gained in seven carries for the Fishermen.
For the season Cadwell threw for 1,765 yards and 13 touchdowns while being intercepted on 14 occasions. Tony Crete paced Ilwaco with 27 receptions good for 486 yards and six TD's, Inserra snagged 21 passes, made 458 yards, and scored four TD's, and Mirelez with 21 catches, 465 yards, and two touchdowns also had an excellent season as a receiver.
Jared Schaak caught six passes and gained 66 yards and Markus Peterson and Wiegardt each caught one pass for 15-yard gains. Nick Leonard threw four completions in six tries as backup QB.
The Fishermen finished with an 0-6 record in the Trico League and were 1-8 overall.
