Thomas, Schuele each earn second at Kalama's Rubber Chicken Classic

KALAMA - Ikaika Thomas (275 lbs.) and Jason Schuele (125 lbs.) both earned second place finishes at the Kalama Rubber Chicken Classic Wrestling Tournament Jan. 20. Thomas pinned his first opponent in the second round and was pinned by Kalama star Sean McDonald in the opening round of the finals.

Schuele won his first match on points 11-10 and was defeated 2-1 by a Woodland opponent in the finals. The only other Fishermen wrestler was Bobby Richards at 171 lbs. and he lost both of his matches. Thomas is 3-13 on the season, Schuele 13-3 and Richards is 2-14.

Charlie Shannon is 1-7, Geoff Hylton 5-2, and Kylie Lewis 1-9, but they did not compete on Saturday.

Ilwaco will host its only home wrestling meet of the year on Saturday, Jan. 27. The Beach Brawl will begin at 10 a.m. and feature wrestlers from several area schools.
