ILWACO - Todd Oakes has signed a letter of intent to play golf at Concordia College in Portland next year. Coach Ron Grove of the Cavaliers said, "Todd is capable of playing NCAA Division I golf. He is a very good player with an ability that will make him an immediate impact player on our team. We are looking for some great accomplishments from Todd during his collegiate career."

Concordia's press release said, "Todd Oakes placed inside the top 15 at the Washington 1A Championships the past three seasons; placing 13th overall as a sophomore and again as a junior after a 12th-place result in his freshman campaign. Oakes has also led Ilwaco High School to three district titles and a pair of fourth-place finishes at state before guiding the Fisherman to a state title last season. Todd is the son of Julie and Ronald Oakes and plans to major in business at Concordia."

The Concordia men's golf team is currently receiving votes towards the NAIA top-25 poll. Last season, the first under Grove, the Cavaliers placed fifth at the NAIA Region I Championships after collecting a Cascade Collegiate Conference championship in the league's inaugural title event.
