2004 FinnAm golf tournamentNASELLE - The 2004 FinnAm Golf Tournament will be held Friday, July 30, at 11 a.m. on the Peninsula Golf Course in Long Beach as part of the Naselle Finnish American Folk Festival (FAFF). The tournament will be an 18-hole, 4-man-team scramble format.

Registration fee is $35 per player and will include the tournament, a lunch and awards to the winning golfers. Checks or money orders may be made out to the Finnish American Folk Festival.

Only a limited number of players will be able to play on the tournament day, so early sign up is advised. A limited number of golf carts are available at the Peninsula Golf Course at (360).642-2828. Cart rental is not included in the registration fee.

Register for the Paavo Nurmi Run/WalkNASELLE - The 2004 edition of the Paavo Nurmi Run/Walk will be held Saturday, July 31, at 8 a.m., as part of the Naselle Finnish American Folk Festival (FAFF).

The run will begin and end on the track of the Rueben Penttila Field at the Naselle High School. The race will include a lap around the track, proceed out from the track, and follow a private gravel road for a distance of one mile. Runners will then return down the same road and complete another lap around the school track to the "Finnish" line. This course is a gradual uphill run for one mile and a mostly down hill run back to the school. Runners and walkers should be aware that the course is a gravel road and using caution is necessary.

Preregistration fees, before July 16, are $12 per entry and include a run T-shirt. Registration at the FAFF on July 30 or July 31 is $5 and does not include a T-shirt. However, there will be limited race T-shirts available on July 30 and 31 for a $15 registration fee. Registration for the run on July 31 must be completed by 7:45 a.m. Checks or money orders may be made out to the Finnish American Folk Festival.

Awards will be presented at the track at 9:30 a.m. on race day. Awards will be given to the first three finishers in each of the eight age divisions for both the run and walk. Showers will be available after the race in the school gym shower rooms. Runners are reminded to BYOT (Bring Your Own Towel).
