CASTLE ROCK — The Fishermen wrestling team wriggled past the Chinooks 37-36 and downed the combined squad from Toledo-Winlock 45-27 in double-dual wrestling matches at Castle Rock Wednesday, Jan. 12. The Fishermen now have an overall 6-1 record in dual competition for the season. They are 3-1 in the Trico League.

Fishermen pinning Toledo-Winlock foes were Josh Berteaux at 135 pounds, Peter Keller (160 pounds), Taylor Odneal (171 pounds) and Ryan Edwards (215 pounds). Dylan Short at 285 pounds had one of the most exciting matches of the evening, winning a razor-close decision 5-3. Ilwaco took advantage of four T-W forfeits in the victory.

In their win over Kalama the Fishermen also benefited from four Chinook forfeits. Odneal again pinned his opponent at 171 pounds and Hunter Stockfleth earned a scintillating 10-9 decision at 112 pounds to help ice the team victory over the Chinooks. Israel Bautista won a convincing 12-2 decision at 130 pounds.

Ilwaco met Ridgefield for a double-dual match against the Spudders and Stevenson on Jan. 18.
