NASELLE – Troy Salme and Dustin Doty have been added, albeit a bit late, to Naselle’s 1,000-point career scoring club, thanks to a recent e-mail from former Comets coach Ryan Bjornsgard. According to Bjornsgard’s records, Salme played from 1998 to 2001 and during his four seasons he scored 107, 264, 325 and an even 400 points his freshman through senior seasons for a total of 1,096 points.

Doty played from 2000 through 2002 and his sophomore year he tallied 232, 389 as a junior, and 425 as a senior for a total of 1,046. Both players were left-handed slashing guards with accurate outside shots. As with all of the players, both boys and girls, in Naselle’s and Ilwaco’s 1,000-point clubs they were also excellent all-around players.
Bjornsgard is also in “the club” for Naselle with 1,892 points he scored from 1985 through 1988. Salme played for the Valley Vikings as a freshman.
Ilwaco’s senior guard Karl Oman currently has 1,266 points and passed Bob Robinson to move to sixth all-time for the Fishermen. Karl is 60 points behind his dad, Phil Oman, who is in fourth place all-time for Ilwaco and 56 points behind Jon Kaino who is in fifth place.
